I got an email that my package was delivered, but I don't have it

We get a good number of messages like this resulting from postal carriers scanning all their packages on the truck (rather than at each house) to save time, so packages are often reported "delivered" 1-3 days early. 99% of the time the package shows up in the next couple of days!
